Rubber City Shakespeare Company’s (RCSC) mission is to bring affordable Shakespeare and classical drama to the Akron, Ohio, area. Through the use of our "Free Shakespeare" program, we will stage Shakespeare and other classical works that will be accessible for everyone. The "Free" Shakespeare project includes free staged reading throughout the year, and Pay-As-You-Like-It performances for each production in an artistic year. Using Shakespeare's plays and other classical drama as an educational tool, we strive to inspire the next generation of theatergoers and performers, while also producing and providing entertaining classical theatre for the northeast Ohio community.
Rubber City Shakespeare Company seeks to utilize energy, education, excellence, and environment in all aspects of production with our company.
Energy: Empowering our shows with excitement and passion.
Education: Providing affordable education on Shakespeare and classical drama.
Excellence: Bringing the highest caliber to the work we produce.
Rubber City Shakespeare Company endeavors to become a key educational resource for Shakespeare and classical drama in the Akron and North East Ohio area. Through our programming we strive to become a valuable community partner.
RCSC is proud to be a member of The Shakespeare Theatre Association (STA). For more information visit www.stahome.org.
STA was established to provide a forum for the artistic, managerial, educational leadership for theatres primarily involved with the production of the works of William Shakespeare; to discuss issues and methods of work, resources, and information; and to act as an advocate for Shakespearean productions and training.
